Funeral grant
One-off ~10 BSI (about €410) funeral benefit from the municipality to a relative or funeral organiser.
Start application →The funeral benefit is paid by the <strong>municipality</strong> to a family member of the deceased or to another person who has paid for the funeral. The amount is 10 BSI — i.e. about €410 in 2026. The benefit does not depend on the deceased's income or assets — it is a universal cash supplement towards the funeral of a person registered as resident in Lithuania. The application is submitted via <strong>SPIS</strong> (<a href="https://www.spis.lt">www.spis.lt</a>) or at the social support unit of the municipality.
Eligibility
The funeral benefit is available if:
- The deceased had their declared place of residence in Lithuania (or the repatriation of the body is documented)
- The applicant is a relative, spouse, child, parent of the deceased or another person who paid for the funeral
- The same funeral has been compensated only to one person — if someone has already received it, no one else can
- The application is submitted within 12 months of the date of death
