Guardianship / foster-care benefit
Monthly ~4 BSI (~€210) benefit for guardians and on-call foster carers for the care of a child or an adult.
Start application →The guardianship (custody) benefit is paid by the <strong>municipality</strong> to guardians and carers to whom guardianship has been transferred by court ruling or by decision of the municipal administration. The amount in 2026 is 4 BSI/month (~€210) basic, with an increased amount for wards with a disability. It is separate from <a href="/vaiko-pinigai">child money</a>, which the guardian also receives. It is intended to compensate for the actual costs of looking after the ward — food, clothing, services.
Eligibility
The guardianship benefit is available if:
- Guardianship has been established by a court or by a municipal decision
- The ward (a child under 18 or an adult declared legally incapable) is registered as residing in Lithuania
- The guardian actually looks after the ward (lives together, provides care)
- The guardianship status is in force (not temporary <72 hours)
