Guardianship / foster-care benefit
Monthly ~4 BSI (~€210) benefit for guardians and on-call foster carers for the care of a child or an adult.
Start application →The guardianship (custody) benefit is paid by the municipality to guardians and carers to whom guardianship has been transferred by court ruling or by decision of the municipal administration. The amount in 2026 is 4 BSI/month (~€210) basic, with an increased amount for wards with a disability. It is separate from child money, which the guardian also receives. It is intended to compensate for the actual costs of looking after the ward — food, clothing, services.
Eligibility
The guardianship benefit is available if:
- Guardianship has been established by a court or by a municipal decision
- The ward (a child under 18 or an adult declared legally incapable) is registered as residing in Lithuania
- The guardian actually looks after the ward (lives together, provides care)
- The guardianship status is in force (not temporary <72 hours)
