Maternity benefit is paid to working (insured) women for pregnancy and childbirth leave — 70 days before birth + 56 days after (84 + 56 days for twins / a complicated birth). It is paid at 100% of compensable wage (KDU). Sodra starts payments when the family doctor issues an electronic certificate for pregnancy and childbirth leave — usually at the 30th week of pregnancy. After this leave the woman (or the father) can move directly to <a href="/vaiko-prieziuros-ismoka">childcare benefit</a> until age 1 or 2.

Eligibility

Maternity benefit is available if:

  • You are insured with Sodra (employee, IDV, owner)
  • In the 24 months before pregnancy you had ≥12 months of Sodra contributions
  • The family doctor has issued an e-certificate for maternity (usually at 30 weeks)
  • You have your declared place of residence in Lithuania or the EU
  • You submit the application within 12 months of the start of the leave
