The assistance pension is paid by Sodra to people who are not entitled to a contributory pension — for example, children with disabilities (up to age 24), people of pensionable age without the required service record, and survivors who lost their breadwinner. It is paid from the state budget (not from Sodra contributions). The amount in 2026 is around €210/month (1.0 BSP) up to €280 (1.5 BSP). It is significantly lower than a contributory pension but ensures a basic level of income. It is separate from social allowance — these are two different forms of support that can be combined.

Eligibility

The assistance pension is available if:

 • The person is not entitled to a contributory pension (less than 15 years of contributions or other requirements)
 • On one of the grounds: disability up to age 24, pensionable age without contributions, loss of breadwinner, single child up to 18 after the death of one parent, or victim of deportation / participant in resistance.
 • The person has their declared place of residence in Lithuania
 • Income per family member is too low to secure a contributory pension
