Free school meals
Free meals at municipal schools — automatic for pupils in years 1–2 and for low-income families during the school year.
Start application →Since 2020, <strong>all pupils in years 1–2</strong> in Lithuania receive free school meals — regardless of family income. For pupils in higher years (3–12), free meals are provided only to families with insufficient resources (income ≤1.5 VRP) or on other grounds (family at social risk, family with many children, family with a disabled member). Coverage is during the school year (September–June), regardless of whether the pupil attends a state or private school. The application is submitted via SPIS or at the school administration office.
Eligibility
Free school meals are available if:
- The pupil attends year 1 or 2 (automatic)
- OR income per family member ≤1.5 VRP over 3 months
- OR the family is on the social-risk register
- OR the family has many children (3+)
- OR there is a member with a disability in the family
- The pupil regularly attends school (those who don't lose the entitlement)
